Co-Production

For projects that want an Australian partner, not just a service company.

If your story has real roots here, let's talk about making it together. As a co-producer we bring creative input, local access, and potentially Australian funding pathways, including state and federal screen agencies and official treaty co-productions.

Filming in WA: the quick version

  • Visas: most overseas doco crews use the 408 Entertainment visa. Short shoots lodged from overseas usually just need a supporter.
  • Permits: councils, national parks and Aboriginal lands all have separate processes. Some take weeks.
  • Seasons: the north has a wet season (roughly Nov–Apr), and summer can be ceremony time in some remote communities. Location decides your dates, not the other way round.
  • Distance: WA is huge! Perth to Broome is over 2,000km. This is a 2.5-hour flight. Plan travel days, contigency and get some local support.

Filming on Country

Many productions come to WA to explore First Nations stories or want to film on public or First Nations land. Getting that right isn't a tick-box exercise.

Every community has its own protocols, and the right person to speak for one place isn't the right person for the next. We work with you to build a proper cultural plan: find the right people, allow time for real consultation and consent, ensure participants are paid and their cultural knowledge is respected, and follow Screen Australia's Pathways & Protocols.

Tell us where you want to film, and we'll help you find the right way in.
